Amazon Will Not Have WikiLeaks On Its Servers Anymore

Amazon has pulled WikiLeaks from its servers. The controversial site moved to Amazon servers lately. WikiLeaks lately relocated to Amazon Web Services, a website hosting service, after denial of service attacks forced the site to move its hosting site. WikiLeaks has created an epic controversy, and Amazon does not want to be tainted by it.

Amazon server no longer has WikiLeaks after protest

The “Cablegate” series happened with WikiLeaks. Then, the sit faced some DDOS, or distributed denial of service. As a result, the site moved to Amazon Web Services. WikiLeaks had been then kicked off of the amaon.com self service web hosting, reports the Guardian. This was because American companies were asked to boycott the site by Senator Joe Lieberman. ”Fine our $ are now spent to employ people in Europe” was what WikiLeaks posted on its Twitter page after this happened. The company also said that Amazon needed to “get out of the business of selling books” if Amazon wasn’t going to follow the first Amendment.

Julian Assange wanted in Europe

Julian Assange is the head of WikiLeaks. The Swedish government put out a warrant for his arrest. Each so often, Assange’s name comes up in Sweden for sexual assault charges. This is what the Christian Science Monitor reports. Assange can be arrested in any nation he is found in though as the Interpol, which is the international police organization, issued a “red notice”. It is not a binding warrant, only a suggestion. Both the United States and Assange’s home country, Australia, have criminal charges being charged to him. Assange’s mother most recently said in an interview that her son is principled and doing what he believes is right and “fighting baddies, if you like.”.

Outrage mounting

All of the releases by WikiLeaks have made some within the international community respond very strongly. The diplomatic cables are one of these releases of course. What the ultimate fate of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks will be is unknown, but seems like that the organization might not be able to operate with impunity ultimately.
